Insurance

We accept all standard insurance and are more than happy to bill insurance for you. Before doing any treatment, we will print you a treatment plan that details our fees and insurance estimates. We are currently contracted with the two major insurance companies in Oregon: ODS (Also known as Delta), and Blue Cross /Blue Shield. Since they have both approved our fee schedule, our estimates are nearly 100% accurate unless your coverage has lapsed. Just to make things more complicated, if you have ODS / Delta and your card says "Preferred", that is a special plan with reduced coverage which we are not set up to accept. We are, however, an ODS / Delta "Premier" provider which is the category that most ODS / Delta insurance falls under.

Insurance companies other than ODS / Delta and Blue Cross / Blue Shield are more difficult to deal with. They will not publish their allowed fees which are usually slightly lower than ours. We base our estimates on the percentages they give us, but since we don't know what to base the percentage on, there is usually a slight difference. Also, some insurance companies are not even true insurance companies at all, but are trustees for a self insured plan. These companies do not have to follow any of the rules set by the insurance commission and have been known to deny work done that was not specifically authorized ahead of time.

If your insurance is a preferred provider organization, you may be given a list of providers that you can go to. Unlike medical insurance, dental insurance usually has very similar coverage even if you go to a provider not on the list. You can come here even if we are not signed up as a preferred provider with your insurance company and your coverage will be very similar. There are very few insurance companies that require you to go to a preferred provider to receive any coverage at all. This includes Oregon Health Plan which we do not accept. Even though the Oregon Health Plan card may say ODS or Blue Cross, we are not specifically signed up to accept OHP.
